About Us
What began as an idea to grow premium Washington State wine grapes serendipitously blossomed into a true passion for winemaking.
With the love and support of our family, Kasari Cellars was established in 2021.
Under the guidance of winemaker and owner Marty Kmiecik, we are dedicated to crafting limited-production, high-quality Bordeaux-inspired wines—infused with the unique character of Washington State.
We source our fruit from trusted vineyard partners across the renowned AVAs of Eastern Washington.
Our winemaking philosophy emphasizes simplicity and minimal intervention, allowing the distinctiveness of each vintage to shine through.
Production Facility
Establishing a sense of place for our winery location was a necessary requirement prior to even thinking of crushing our first grapes and vinifying our first batch of wine. We are fortunate to walk only mere steps to where we produce, age and bottle our lineup of wines.
Kasari Crest
The genesis of Kasari Cellars.
Swallows symbolize many things to many cultures including good luck, hope, love and rebirth, and here the two swallows in flight also represent the winemaker’s two children. Golden, lifegiving sun bathes the exquisite grapes we ultimately select in light and warmth, thus making it possible to create and ultimately share our wines.
Swallows have been intertwined into the winemaker’s existence since he was a young boy. Playing outfield in Little League Baseball, these acrobatic flyers were intriguing company to watch when the opposing team’s offense was lackluster. As an adult, a deeper connection was born with the winemaker’s family soon after relocating to their current home. With several offered bird houses, his young family became fascinated with the swallows’ annual spring migration.
Over many years, together they have experienced and continue to anticipate the swallows’ return each spring, the joy of witnessing countless baby swallows grow into young adults in the bright summer sun, and then migrate south in each fall.
Roussanne Ready
A cool early morning in October and we are busy crushing the 2022 Roussanne. Harvest and crush is filled with 14-18 hour days, countless day trips over to the vineyards in Eastern Washington and back home to Western Washington, and the never ending cleaning and sanitation of all the required processing equipment. This time of year is crazy busy for the winemakers and staff but also for the dedicated, hard working vineyard managers and teams responsible for producing the premium fruit.
OWNER & WINEMAKER
Marty Kmiecik
From a background in culinary arts, engineering, landscaping, and retail, I unexpectedly found my passion for winemaking after volunteering during harvest at a winery while enrolled in WSU’s Viticulture Certificate Program. Inspired by that experience, I began making hobby wine, eventually progressing to complete WSU’s Enology Certificate Program. In 2021, driven by a desire to pursue this newfound passion further, my family and I established Kasari Cellars. This venture has not only blended my creativity with life lessons but has also brought immense fulfillment through the challenges and rewards of the winemaking process.
